What to bring

The summer (December to early April) temperature is usually 30-35C during the day and only 3 degrees cooler at night. What is jokingly called our winter months (May till the end of July) bring a few showers and some welcome rains however temperatures are usually just 5 -8 degrees cooler and rarely drop below 20C. From August until the end of November, temperatures are typically between summer & winter temperatures. So, bring light-weight, easy-fitting clothes. In the evenings, it is useful to have light long trousers, while shorts, T-shirts and swimwear are a must for day time. We provide beach towels.
Because it's hot, guests are advised to use sunblock during the day and mosquito repellent in the evenings.

If you are active, this is an ideal place for kite-surfing, windsurfing, diving, skydiving, snorkelling and sailing to the reef in one of the local out-rigger sailboats, called 'ngalawa'.  You can walk for miles on the beach and swim in the clear, warm water all day!

A short way down the coast is Wasini Island and the Kisite Marine National Park and Reserve with its stunning reefs, myriad of exotic tropical fish and dolphins galore. In fact, this is one of the prime dolphin breeding areas of the East African coast.

Guests can also book a day trip to Shimba Hills and Mwaluganje Elephant Sanctuary giving you an experience of both beach and bush. Shimba Hills National Reserve is one of the largest coastal forests in East Africa. This reserve is rich in flora and fauna and is only located 40 km from Diani Beach.
